Seeking to put an end to their three-game winless run, Gillingham play host to Exeter City at the Priestfield Stadium in round two of the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the visitors claimed a 7-0 victory over Cheltenham Town in the cup curtain-raiser two weeks ago and will be looking to continue in the same vein.
Gillingham failed to get their new League Two campaign up and running as they were held to a goalless draw by Walsall on home turf on Saturday.
In a dull contest in South East England, Neil Harris’ side were made to play for their passive display in front of goal, where they were guilty of a lack of sting, before settling for a share of the spoils.
Gillingham were previously on a run of two consecutive defeat, losing 3-0 at Tranmere Rovers on August 13 before falling to a 2-0 home defeat against Harrogate Town three days later.
The Gills now turn their attention to the EFL Cup, where they began their campaign with a 2-0 victory away to AFC Wimbledon two weeks ago, with Mikael Mandron and Jordan Green finding the target in injury time.
Meanwhile, Exeter City were denied a third successive home victory in League One on Saturday, when they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Cheltenham Town at St James Park.
Off the back of a 3-1 victory over Wycombe Wanderers, Matt Taylor’s side failed to pick up where they left off as Dan N’Lundulu scored the only goal of the contest to hand the visitors their first win of the season.
While Exeter City have managed just one win in their last five competitive matches away from home, they will fancy their chances against a Gillingham side who have failed to win in each of the last four meetings between the sides since 2009.

Gillingham will be without midfielder Shaun Williams, who is set to miss his second consecutive game after coming off injured against Tranmere Rovers on August 13.
He is joined on the injury table by newly-signed goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer, who is yet to make his debut after sustaining an injury in January.
Exeter City news
Jevani Brown has registered three goals and two assists in the opening four League One game, but will play no part in this contest after being called up to the Jamaican national team.
