Ghana are set to take on Comoros in the final match of Group C of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations at the Rounde Adjia Stadium on Tuesday night with kickoff at 22:00.
Ghana will be looking for their first win of this year’s AFCON on their third attempt after opening the campaign on the back foot and they face serious risks of a shock group-stage exit. They opened with a 1-0 defeat to fellow group favorites Morocco, before being held to 1-1 draw by Gabon in their second match on Friday.
They currently sit third in the group on one point, five points behind Morocco at the top and three below Gabon in the second. That means that Ghana needs nothing less than a win in this fixture if there are to stand a chance of progressing. They will also need to score as many goals as possible and hope that Gabon drops all points in their match against Morocco.
Between the two sides Ghana are in a better form and have big-name talents in their squad they should be able to edge Comoros in this one. The last time the two met Ghana prevailed with a 2-0 and they will be hoping to add on that score line on Tuesday.
Meanwhile Comoros have been the whipping boys of Group C so far as they have lost both their opening matches in the group. They first fell to 1-0 defeat to Gabon in the opening fixture, before surrendering 2-0 to Morocco in their second match.
They currently sit bottom in the pile and will go into their final group match already knocked out of the competition and will only be fighting for their pride in on Tuesday.
