Both Genoa and Empoli will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they lock horns at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in their Serie A matchday 28 tie on Sunday afternoon with kickoff at 14:30.
Genoa have made a decimal campaign this season and look to be heading to the Serie B, having claimed just one win and 17 points from 27 games. They currently sit 19th with just two points above the rock-bottom Salernitana and are eight points adrift of safety.
However, they put in an impressive defensive performance last week Friday as they held title-chasing and champions Inter Milan to a goalless draw at Luigi Ferraris. They have now draw all their last five Serie A matches while have failed to win in their last 11 matches across all competitions.
With 11 matches remaining Genoa will need to start putting wins on the board if they are going to escape the drop. Coming up a side they haven’t fallen to in their last six encounters claiming four wins, Genoa will fancy their chances of claiming their second Serie A win this season.
Meanwhile Empoli had a good start to the campaign with the club spending sometime around the middle of the table. However, they run out of steam and have been on a downward trajectory in the league following a 10-match winless run in Serie A, picking up five draws while suffering five defeats in the run.
As a result they have dropped into 13th where they sit on 31 points from 27 matches, five points outside the top half and 11 points above the relegation. They will not be worried about being dragged into a relegation scrap now, but they will need to end their poor form as a couple of more poor results could get them close to trouble.
