Off the back of a crucial victory at the weekend, Fleetwood Town will be looking to move further away from the relegation zone in the League One table on Tuesday, when they welcome Lincoln City to Highbury.
The hosts climbed up to the 19th spot following a victory over Crewe Alexandra, while the visitors are one place and eight points better off after a victory of their own.
Heading into the final stretch of the season in the battle for survival, Fleetwood found themselves in a poor run of form, having failed to register a single win from a span of 13 games before a layoff due to the international break.
With that run leading up to five straight defeats and a stalemate with basement Doncaster Rovers, Stephen Crainey’s side sat in real danger of dropping down to League Two, with just 34 points from 38 matches.
However, Fleetwood were able to end their drought and register a much-needed victory on Saturday, defeating Crewe Alexandra 3-1 on the road as Anthony Pilkington and Ellis Harrison got on the scoresheet after Harvey Macadam’s opener was cancelled out.
Lincoln City arrive having also made a retunr to winning ways at the weekend, following a tough spell in what has been an underwhelming season.
Michael Appleton’s side have continuously threatened to push towards a higher mid-table place throughout the season, but Lincoln City have been unable to establish consistency at any stage, sitting 17th as a result.
They headed into the weekend off the back of defeats to Rotherham United and Shrewsbury Town either side of a draw with Sunderland but were able to get back to winning ways against Charlton Athletic.
Now Burton Albion and Shrewsbury are back in their sights, and they will search for a second win with the chance to leapfrog both on Tuesday.
