Fiorentina will look to continue their push for a European finish in Serie A when they welcome a struggling Venezia to Stadio Artemio Franchi for their Matchday 33 tie on Saturday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Despite facing some difficulties and losing their prolific strike Dusan Vlahovic to Juventus mid-season, Fiorentina have managed to keep their European hopes going and now only six matches remain to the end of the campaign and the Violas sit seventh just a place and two points outside the Europeans places, with a game in hand on the sides above them.
Their European hopes have recently been given a push with the side claiming three victories and two draws from their last five league matches, and Vincenzo Italiano will look to maintain the push with another positive result on Saturday.
The Violas will fancy their chances of recording their third consecutive victory in Serie A in the weekend’s clash as they are in much form than their opponents, and they have not lost to Venezia in their last four encounters at Artemio Franchi. Also, Italiano’s side are coming off a massive confidence-boosting 3-2 victory against Napoli at away last weekend in a crucial league match.
Meanwhile Venezia continued their nightmares in Serie A last time out as they fell to 2-1 defeat to Udinese at home last weekend. They have now lost each of their last six top-flight matches in a row, conceding 13 goals while scoring just five in the process.
The run has seen continue to sit in the relegation zone, in the 18th spot level on 22 points with 19th-placed Genoa and three points off Cagliari who outside the relegation zone in 17th. However, with still matches remaining and still possessing a game in hand Venezia still have time to salvage their campaign, although they will need to turn around their fortunes as soon as possible.
Paolo Zanetti’s side claimed a 1-0 victory over Fiorentina in the reverse fixture earlier this season and they will look to draw confidence form that as they aim to perform a double on the Violas.
