Fiorentina vs Roma Match Analysis and Prediction

Fiorentina will be taking on Roma at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Monday, with the teams separated by only three points in the Serie A standings with three games remaining.

Having gathered some ground due to some excellent form during most of March and April, Fiorentina trail their Roman rivals by three points in the table after defeat at AC Milan last week got May off to a disappointing start.

La Viola have now lost each of their last three Seria A games, and have not been beaten four times in a row since late 2019, so will be keen to end a worrying decline since dropping out of the Coppa Italia last month.

Their current run of four straight defeats in all competitions started when they missed out in the semi-final to Juventus, and it includes a 4-0 reverse to Udinese in their last game at the Franchi.

Despite such recent setbacks, Fiorentina still possess the third-best home record in Serie A this season, having claimed 35 points from 17 matches.

After Tammy Abraham again proved to be a decisive figure for Roma in their Conference League semi-final against Leicester City, I Giallorossi are set for a first European final since 1991, where they will face Feyenoord later this month.

Having been winless in their last three league matches, following last weekend’s goalless draw at home to Bologna, Jose Mourinho’s side are on the brink of going four matches in a row without victory for the first time this season.

Before their trip to the Tuscan capital looking to make it double over Fiorentina this season, Roma have lost only one of their last nine league matches in Florence, and a total of six wins and two draws during that period gives them the confidence heading into the Monday’s fixture.

Fiorentina news

Vicenzo Italiano has an almost full squad available for him for Roma’s visit, with long-term absentee Gaetano Castrovilli the only exception.

Lucas Torreira is expected to regain his place in midfield, while Castrovilli’s knee injury allows Youssef Maleh and Alfred Duncan to contend for another start in a midfield trio.

Roma news

Mourinho is expected to make some changes to his Roma starting XI on Monday, with Matias Vina, Jordan Veretout and Marash Kumbulla all expected to play a part.

Veretout should replace Sergio Olivera in midfield, while Tammy Abraham could be joined up front by Felix Afena-Gyan, who hopes to deputise for Nicolo Zaniolo.

Prediction and Odds

Roma have won each of their last five encounters with Fiorentina, and will sure enter the the contest with the confidence of picking up another victory.

However, Fiorentina are a tough team to defeat in Florence and with part of their visitors focus on an upcoming European final, we predict a draw.
