Fiorentina will look to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Roma at Stadio Artemio Franchi in their Serie A Matchday 36 tie on Monday night with kickoff at 21:45.
Fiorentina were left empty-handed again in last time out when they fell to a 1-0 defeat to league leaders AC Milan at away last weekend. They have now suffered four defeats across all competitions, falling to Juventus in the semifinal of the Coppa Italia, before suffering losses to Salernitana, Fiorentina and Milan in Serie A.
The run has seen them drop to seventh in Serie A standings with three points behind Roma in the Europa League spot and two points behind Lazio in the last European spot. With three matches still remaining the Violas can still make the Europa League finish, but they will need to win all their remaining fixtures starting with the Sunday clash.
In their way, however, stands Roma who they haven’t beaten in their last five Serie A matches with the capital club winning four of those in a row including the 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Roma, also head into the match in good mood having reached the Europa Conference League final following a narrow 1-0 win over premier League outfits Leicester City last Thursday night.
However, two draws with Napoli and Bologna either side of a 3-1 loss to Inter Milan has seen Jose Mourinho’s side fall out of the top-four race, as they now sit fifth 10 points behind fourth-placed Juventus.
They are level on points with sixth-placed Lazio and only three points above seventh-placed Fiorentina, and with only three matches remaining Roma need to win them all to confirm their Europa League finish. But Mourinho’s side could still make it to the Europa League if they win the Conference League.
They have won all their last four matches against Fiorentina in Serie A and considering Viola’s form, Roma should fancy their chances here.
