Finland lock horns with Iceland in an interesting international friendly at the Estadio Nueva Condomina on Saturday evening with kickoff at 19:00.
Both sides missed out on qualifying for this year’s World Cup finals in Qatar with Finland finishing third in Group D following a 2-0 defeat to France in the final group match, while Iceland finished fifth in Group J following a poor run at the end of the group qualifiers.
They both now prepare for the upcoming UEFA Nations League in June with two friendly fixtures in this international break.
Finland head into the match in an inconsistent form having won three and lost three of their last six matches and head into the match off a 2-0 defeat to France in their last international tie, which saw they back-to-back victories abruptly brought to a bitter end.
They will therefore look to bounce back in this match, although they are in a poor having only won one of their last eight matches at home.
Meanwhile Iceland head into the match in a poor form having only won one of their last 10 matches across all competitions and are coming off a four –match winless run, including the 5-1 trashing by South Korea last time out in an international friendly affair back in January.
They look to bounce back to winning ways as they aim at building confidence ahead of the continental Nations League in June.
