Manchester City make the trip to Copenhagen on Tuesday knowing that a victory would see them secure their spot in the knocout round of the Champions League with two matches to go.

Pep Guardiola’s side are currently top of Group G, boasting nine points from their opening three matches, while the hosts are bottom, picking up just one point in the section so far.

Copenhagen were seen off by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last week, with the Citizens scoring three time in the first half before striking twice more after the interval to run claim a 5-0 victory.

The five-goal defeat to Manchester City has left the Danish outfit bottom of Group G on one point, but they are level on points with third-placed Sevill, so a spot in the Europa League is certainly achievable, while they can also still mathematically finish in the top two at this stage.

Jacob Neestrup’s side enter the contest off the back of a 1-1 draw with Nordsjaelland in the league on Saturday, which has left them down in sixth place, boasting 16 points from 12 games.

Meanwhile, Manchester City made it six straight wins across all competitions on Saturday by beating Southampton 4-0 in the Premier League, which temporarily moved them to the top of the table.

Manchester City defeated Sevilla 4-0 in their group opener before claiming a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund on September 14, and a victory over Copenhagen left them in a commanding spot in the group ahead of their final two group matches against Dortmund and Sevilla.
