Everton vs Aston Villa Match Analysis and Prediction

Aston Villa will be looking to end their four-match winless run across all competitions when they visit Goodison Park to take on a struggling Everton in Premier League’s Saturday early kickoff with kickoff at 15:30.

Everton will begin the rest of the season under caretaker manager, Duncan Ferguson who was appointed to oversee Everton’s upcoming matches starting with the visit of Aston Villa, following the dismissal of the controversial manager Rafa Benitez who had served since the begin of this season.

At first Rafa did well to win most of the Blues fanbase with a good start to the Premier League but, a poor run of form and drop in the league standings has seen led to the Spaniard being the latest Premier League to face the axe this season with a disastrous 2-1 defeat to rock-bottom Norwich spackling his dismissal.

The defeat meant that the Merseysiders have just won one in the top flight since September, a run that has left them sitting just two places and six points above the relegation zone. To salvage their season Everton appointed Ferguson to help them through the reminder of the season and it was him who saved the Toffees bacon in 2019, when he was brought in as interim boss and he will aim to replicate such performances starting with Villa’s visit.

Meanwhile Aston Villa brought in Steven Gerrard who has the Villans playing the best football at the moment and improvement around the club has been realized under the former Liverpool legend. In his nine Premier League matches in charge of Villa, they have claimed four victories, one draw and four defeats with three of those coming against Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Gerrard’s troops did well to hold Manchester United to a 2-2 draw at home in their previous top-flight fixture, staging a spirited comeback with Jacob Ramsey and Philippe Countinho cancelling out Bruno Fernandes’ efforts for United with 13 minutes remaining on the clock.

Surely, with the performance they displayed against the Red Devils and with Everton’s current low spirits, Gerrard will be confident in his side swooping a victory here as he aims to break into the top-half.
