Estoril Praia will be hosting Arouca at the Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota in round 18 of the Primeira Liga on Saturday, when they will be looking to pick up their first home victory in eight matches.
Arouca, who are second-last in the league table, enter the contest without a win in five successive games and will look to end the dry spell and pull away from the relegation zone.
Estoril Praia failed to pick up a victory once again in the Primeira Liga as they went down to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Porto last Saturday.
The Canarinhos headed into the halftime break with a two-goal lead courtesy of goals from Arthur Gomes and Andre Franco, but they failed to hold on in the second half when Luis Diaz, Mehdi Taremi and Francisco Conciecao scored to turn around the game and secure the Dragons the three points.
Prior to that defeat, Estoril Praia had seen their Taca de Portugal campaign come to an end with a 3-1 defeat against Tondela on December 21, before falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Moreirense a week later.
On the other hand, Arouca lost their feet last time out as they went down to a 2-1 defeat against Belenenses at the Estadio Nacional do Jamor.
Armando Evangelista’s side finished nine men, where Nilton Varela and Abel Camara scored in the second half to cancel out Oday Dabbagh’s 37th-minute opener and turn around the game to O Belem’s favour.
Arouca had, prior to that, suffered a disappointing 6-0 home defeat by Braga on December 30, where Vitor Oliveira scored a hat-trick in the first half to cap off a sensational individual performance.
This poor run has seen the Arouquenses drop to 17th, one spot above bottom-of-the-table Belenenses and two behind Famalicao in safety.
