England welcome Switzerland to Wembley Stadium for the most intriguing international friendly this Saturday night with kickoff at 20:30.
Both sides have already qualified for this year’s World Cup finals Qatar in the winter with England securing their place after finishing at the top of Group I with 26 points from 10 matches, while Switzerland booked their by finishing at the summit of Group C with 18 points from eight matches, two points above Italy.
Therefore there will be little at stake in this game, but still be an intriguing encounter considering the forms of the two sides. They both head into the match in fine forms with Gareth Southgate’s side going unbeaten in their last seven matches since losing 3-2 on penalties to Italy in the final of Euro 2020.
They claimed five wins and two draws in the run, scoring a ludicrous 30 goals in the run with captain Harry Kane scoring 10 of them, while they only conceded two in the process. They will be looking to pick up where they left off as they aim at setting the pace ahead of the UEFA Nations League in June.
Meanwhile, Switzerland were impressive in the Euro 2020 with the side cruising to the quarter-finals where they were knocked out by Spain. After that they continued their impressive run in the World Cup qualifiers where they finished Group C unbeaten and have not lost in their last seven matches since the defeat to Spaniards last year July.
They will be looking to build on the run as they aim at preparing for the upcoming UEFA Nations League in a positive way, although they are yet to win a single match against England and will be fascinating to see how they perform here.
