Empoli will look to end their 13-match winless run across all competitions when they welcome Hellas Verona to Stadio Carlo Castellani for their Serie A Matchday 30 fixture on Sunday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Empoli succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat to AC Milan in their previous Serie A outing at away last Saturday. Aurelio Andreazzoli’s side have now failed to claim in their last 12 Serie A matches since the 1-0 win against Napoli at away in on December 12th last year.
As a result the Azzurri have dropped into 13th in the bottom half of the Serie A table, where they sit on 32 points from 29 matches, eight points behind the 10th-placed Sassuolo. With 10 points still separating them and the relegation zone, Aurelio Andreazzoli’s side will not be worried about being dragged into a relegation scrap at the moment.
However, Andreazzoli will want his side to get their campaign back on track as they look to avoid a possible last-minute relegation battle.
Meanwhile Verona have been blowing hot and cold recently and continued the form last time out when they fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Napoli last Sunday. They have now won two, drawn two and lost two of their last six Serie A matches, keeping just one clean sheet in the process.
However, Verona were on a four-match unbeaten run prior to the defeat, scoring 10 goals while conceding four in the run and they currently sit ninth on 41 points from 29 matches, seven points outside the European places.
They will therefore look to quickly bounce back to winning ways as aim at staying in the top-half and getting closer to the top-six.
