Following consecutive defeat away from Home, Roma will continue their road trip with a visit to Tuscany on Monday, when they will take on Empoli at Stadio Carlo Castellani.
Having heavily lost to Udinese last weekend, Jose Mourinhos’ side were then beaten in Bulgaria as the began their Europa League campaign, while their hosts are yet to win in Serie A this season.
Roma have been dominant in this fixture, with Empoli having not scored in four of the sides’ last six Serie A meetings, and scoring has also been an issue for the Azzurri through the opening weeks of the 2022-23 campaign.
A tally of just four Serie A goals so far has seen Paolo Zanetti’s side draw four matches in a row, following fixture against Fiorentina, Lecce, Verona and Salernitana which ended all-square.
The latter came somewhat as a salvage job, as Empoli gave away a lead before pulling level through Dutch striker Sam Lammers in the 81st minute. Despite scoring more than once for the first time this season, they still only managed to add one point to their total.
Sitting in the bottom six, with four points and having already exited the Coppa Italia, Zanetti’s reign has not began in the ideal way, and he must find a first win before too long.
After an impressive start to the new season, Roma remained tied at the top of the Serie A standings before last Sunday’s 4-0 defeat to Udinese, and has gone unbeaten through their first four league matches.
Prior to that capitulation in Udine, they had conceded just a solitary goal this season, but a new-look lineup wnet on to let in two more on Thursday, as Europa Conference League winners fell to a defeat at Ludogorets in their first game in Europa League Group C.

Tammy Abraham and Rick Karsdorp did not make the trip to Razgrad due to shoulder and knee injuries respectively, but could feature against Empoli.
Georginio Wijnaldum, Stephan El Shaarawy and Marash Kumbulla all remain sidelined, but Nicolo Zaniolo could now settle for a place on the bench following his latest absence.
Prediction and Odds
Given Empoli’s poor run at the Castellani, the timing of Roma’s visit could not theoretically be better for them.
Roma may not be at full potential due to continental commitments, but Mourinho’s side possess enough firepower on the bench to get the job done if the game remains close later on.
