Girona will be looking to make it back-to-back wins on the bounce in La Liga when they travel to Estadio Martinez Valero to take on Elche in their Matchday 14 tie on Tuesday night.
Elche have made a poor campaign in the La Liga this season with the side only managing to bag four points from 13 games so far. They currently sit at the bottom of the table, seven points of their safety.
It’s relatively still early into the campaign, but Elche need to turn around their fortunes if there are to avoid relegation this season. They suffered a 2-1 defeat at Valladolid last time out, making it three defeats in their last four league matches.
They return home this midweek, where they have not lost Girona in their last nine encounters in all competitions, and will hope to draw confidence from that as they desperately seek their first win of the season.
Newly-promoted Girona have relatively done well this season and heading into day 14, they sit 14th in 13 points, two points off the relegation zone and four outside the top half.
Miche’s side picked up a hard-fought 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao last time out, which saw them extend their unbeaten run to three games now in La Liga. They had previously drawn 1-1 with Osasuna and Real Madrid and thus their confidence should be high at the moment.
They will be keen to maintain the momentum on Tuesday as they seek to continue climbing up the table. They haven’t beaten Elche though in their last five meetings and will need to take things up a notch in this clash.
