Egypt welcomes Gabon to Borg El Arab Stadium for a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday evening with kickoff at 16:00.
Egypt have made a solid qualifying campaign and are the only side that remains unbeaten in Group F of the CAF World Cup qualifiers as they have recorded three wins and two draws in their five group matches, collecting 11 points which have left them at the top of the group standings.
Egypt are coming off 2-2 draw with Angola in their last qualifying fixture on Friday, with Helder Costa and Mbala Nzola giving Angola a 2-0 lead before Egypt cancelling out through strikes from Mohamed Elneny and Akram Tawfik.
Carlos Queiroz’s side will enter the Tuesday’s final group qualifying fixture having already secured a safe passage to the playoff stage as they now have an unassailable four-point lead at the summit of the group and hence, will only be looking to close out their qualifying campaign in style.
Meanwhile, Gabon have made a mixed up qualifying campaign having recorded 2 wins, one draw and two defeats in their five group matches and currently sit in the second place on seven points in Group F standings only a point above the third-placed Libya.
The Panthers are coming off a 1-0 win over Libya in their last qualifying fixture with Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang’s penalty proving enough to secure all the three points that saw Patrice Neveu’s side move up to the second place in the group.
The visitors will be fighting to keep their second spot in the group and end their long winless drought on the road but face a formidable Egypt and will be fascinating to see how this plays out.
