Dynamo Kyiv vs Rennes Match Analysis and Prediction

Following a dramatic 2-1 defeat to Rennes on matchday three at he Europa League, Dynamo Kyiv will be looking for some revenge when they play host to the Ligue 1 side at Marshal Jozef Pilsudski Stadium on Thursday.

The hosts are one of five clubs in this competition who are yet to earn a single point in the group stage, while the visitors are tied for first in Group B alongside Fenerbahce on seven points.

At the weekend, Mircea Lucescu saw his side secure a third successive shutout in league action, beating Rukh Vinnyky 3-0 for their third straight domestic victory, outscoring their opponents 5-0 over that period.

However, things have not gone quite as smoothly for Dynamo in the Europa League, conceding five times so far, losing all three of their matches, and defeat this week would eliminate them from the competition.

Bilo-syni have won each of their last two home matches against French opponents, previously beating Guingamp in 2014-15 and Stade Rennais in 2018-19 at the Europa League, and winning two of their last three home matches in all compeitions.

Meanwhile, Rennes can virtually do no wrong at the moment, beating Nantes 3-0 in league action on Sunday, extending their unbeaten streak to nine games across all competitions.

Rennes have scored multiple goals in every one of their games played this month, tallying a total of eight in their last three matches, while they are getting contributions from various sources in the Europa League with five players scoring for them in three group encounters.

Bruno Genesio’s side are currently the third-highest-scoring club in Ligue 1 with 20 goals, but have never won an away game against Ukrainian opponents, losing 2-1 to Dynamo Kyiv in this competition’s 2018-19 group stage and being defeated 1-0 by Tavriya Simferopol at the 2008 Intertoto Cup.

Prediction and Odds

Rennes are currently playing their best football of the campaign and scoring goals regularly, while also looking a lot like the club that scored the second-most times in Ligue 1 a season ago.

Dynamo Kyiv have recently been solid defensively at home, but we not expect Rennes to pick up at least a point .
