Dundee will play host to St. Mireen at Dens Park on Wednesday, with Mark McGhee taking charge of his first home game as manager for the hosts.
The visitors, who are currently sitting 7th in the Scottish Premiership, will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches in all competitions.
Dundee will enter the midweek contest bottom of the table in the Scottish Premiership, but they can take encouragement from their last two league matches.
Following an away victory over Hearts, Dundee competed well against Celtic in Mark McGhee’s first game in the dugout for the Dee.
Danny Mullen scored the opener for Dundee before Giorgos Giakoumakis netted two quick goals to give Celtic the advantage at half time, but Ryan Sweeney found the back of the net in the 60th minute to level the game.
However, with four minutes to time, Giakoumakis scored his and Celtic’s third goal of thegame to make McGhee’s opening game end in a defeat, and they now need to improve defensively heading into the midweek fixture.
Meanwhile, St. Mirren saw their boss Jim Goodwin depart for Aberdeen on Saturday, with Jamie Langfield and Allan McManus put in interim charge.
Even with the change in the dugout, St. Mirren extended their unbeaten run to six games with a 1-1 away draw against Livingston on Saturday.
Bruce Anderson put the hosts on the lead in the 55th minute before Greg Kiltie scored his first league goal of the season to ensure the Buddies secured a point from the match.
As a result, St. Mirren have now picked up 14 points from their last six matches, with only Celtic picking up more in that period.
