Dundee United will go head to head with Rangers in matchday two of the Scottish Premiership this Saturday at the Tannadice Park with kickoff at 14:30.
Dundee United will be looking to register their first win against Rangers who have won in the last three meetings between the two as well as their first win of the 2021-22 campaign as they opened the season with a 2-0 defeat to Aberdeen last weekend. Once again, the Tangerines failed to win in their opening league match for the third time in a row as the goals from Jonny Hayes and Christian Ramirez sealed a win for the Dons.
Tam Courts took the reins at United following Micky Mellon resignation last season with Tangerines finishing in the ninth position. Courts is now tasked with leading the team to the top six for the fist time in six years but once again he is faced with a giant obstacle Rangers who scored them 10 goals in three meetings last season.
Meanwhile, Rangers started off their journey of defending their Premiership title with a routine 3-0 win against Livingston last weekend with goals from Ianis Hagi, Scott Wright and Kemar Roofe sealing their first win this season.
However, Rangers’ hope of making it to the Champions League group stage for the first time in over a decade suffered a huge blow following the 2-1 defeat to Malmo in the first leg of their third-round qualifier on Tuesday. Now with the away goals being scrapped from European competitions, the Gers will need to ensure that they win the second-leg with at least two goals for them to reach their dream in European football.
Although for now Rangers will shift their focus to the league as they travel to Tannadice with a win in mind as Steven Gerrard looks to build his sides confidence back up ahead of a crucial second-leg clash in Europe next week.
