Dundee will be desperate for three points when they head into the Dundee derby that will be played at Tannadice Park on Saturday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Dundee United have made an impressive campaign under the leadership of Thomas Courts, with the side claiming 40 points from 32 matches to sit fourth in the Premiership standings. They are three points above the bottom half and a point on Saturday will be enough to secure their top half spot ahead of the league spilt after this weekend.
However, United fans will be desperate for a win as they look to send their rivals closer to an immediate return to the Championship. Courts’ side should be confident heading into the derby as they are unbeaten in the last five derby encounter, claiming three victories and two draws in the run.
Meanwhile Dundee have struggled in their first season back to top-flight, with the side claiming just 24 points from 32 matches to sit at the bottom of the table, six points below 11th-placed St Johnstone and 12 behind the 10th-placed St Mirren.
No matter the result the Dark Blues will finish the first phase of the season at the bottom of the table. However, Mark McGhee will want to reduce the gap between themselves and the teams above them ahead of the final phrase.
McGhee’s side though, head into the match in a poor form having failed to win in their last eight matches across all competitions and are coming off a 2-2 draw with Aberdeen.
