Denmark will be looking for a third win from three matches in the UEFA Nations League when they welcome Croatia to Parken Stadium on Friday night.
Denmark opened their Nations League with an impressive 2-1 win against world champions and competition’s holders France at away, before dispatching Austria by same scoreline on Monday in their second Group A1 tie.
The Danes now sit at the top of the group with six points and will looking to increase their chances of finishing at the top. Spirits are high among the Euro 2020 semi-finalists as they have now won eight of their last nine competitive international games, scoring at least twice in six encounters.
Also, they are in good home form having won each of their last five fixtures across all competitions, scoring 14 goals while conceding just one. Therefore, they should be confident of extending their Group A1 lead with another positive result.
However, Kasper Hjulmand’s side is coming up against Croatia, who they have lost to in their last two meetings, including a 3-2 on penalties in the quarter-final of the 2018 World Cup. Although, the Croats are a team in transition and have made a poor start to the UEFA Nations League, suffering a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Austria in the opening fixture before drawing 1-1 with France at home on Monday.
Zlatko Dalic’s side now sit at the bottom of Group 1 of League A and while they are not worried about a relegation now, but a defeat on Friday could start putting them in a tricky spot and it will leave them eight points from the summit. That could prove tough for the Croats to win the group and advance to finals.
Therefore, Croatia need a win on Friday to keep their chances of progressing alive, but having conceded in each of their last five meetings with Denmark, they need to be on top of their game to claim maximum points in the clash.
