Both Crystal Palace and West Ham United will be looking to make it back-to-back wins on the bounce when they lock horns in their first Premier League action of 2022 at the Selhurst Park on Saturday night with kickoff at 20:30.
Crystal Palace once against played without their boss Patrick Vieira on the touch line due to test positive for Covid-19, but assistant manager Osian Roberts got the jo done as he led Palace to a 3-0 victory against Norwich City in the midweek fixture after Christmas.
Palace made a brilliant first half scoring all the three goals in the opening 42 minutes with Odsonne Edouard, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jeffrey Schlupp getting the goals for Crystal Palace. The win marked their fifth win the Premier League and have drawn eight while lost six in their 19 league matches and currently occupy the 11th spot in the table with three points behind the eight-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Palace have been in a good home form this season having just suffered one defeat in front of their fans this season, while have picked up seven points from their last three home league matches and thus will be looking to use their home advantage against the Hammers as they aim at climbing into the top-half of the table.
Meanwhile West Ham United managed to put an end to their five-match winless run in a style as they run rampant in 4-1 thumping of Watford in their last 2021 Premier League fixture last Tuesday with Tomas Soucek cancelling out Emmanuel Dennis’ early opener while Said Benrahma, Mark Boble and Nikola Vlasic sealed the much need win for David Moyes’ side.
The win was crucial for the Hammers who needed the three points to stay in top-four contention and they currently sit in the fifth spot on 31 points four points behind the fourth-placed Arsenal.
David Moyes will hope that the success over Watford would have boosted his side’s confidence and he expect them to fancy their chances as they have only lost to Palace in two of their last 13 meetings and the Hammers won 3-2 in the corresponding fixture between the two sides last term.
