Croatia will face Spain in an exciting but tough and explosive round of 16 fixture on Monday at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen with kickoff at 19:00.
Croatia started off their Euro 2020 campaign in a slow and unconvincing form as they suffered 1-0 defeat to England at Wembley in their opening fixture which put them in a bad spot especially Czech Republic having won their opener against Scotland and proceeded to draw 1-1 against Czech Republic which left them in a more worse situation. However their 3-1 win over Scotland at the Hampden saw them climb to the second position with five points.
Despite their excellent performance displayed against Scotland, the Croats looked weak sometimes allowing the Scots plenty of chances for which Scotland got a consolation goal. Therefore, Croatia will need to be more careful as they can’t afford to show any weakness against class accurate team like Spain.
Spain on the other hand were favorites to finish on top of group E but ended up finishing as runners-up following their unconvincing start as their drew 0-0 Sweden and 1-1 with Poland. However, they head into the match off the back of a five-star performance against Slovakia that left them rejoicing in a 5-0 victory. The win helped Spain to climb to the second position and hence proceeding to the last 16.
Spain seem to be the favorites to proceed to the quarter finals but Croatia following their display against Scotland with the likes of Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic getting on the score sheet might just be able to eliminate the La Roja.
