Crewe Alexandra vs Lincoln City Match Analysis and Prediction

Crewe Alexandra will be hosting Lincoln City on Tuesday evening looking for the victory which could help move the side of the bottom of the League One standings.

There are just nine points that separates the home side with their 18th-placed opponents, who will be travelling to the Mornflake Stadium on the back of a four-game winless run.

With just two victories out of their 20 League fixtures this season, Crewe can perhaps count themselves fortunate that they only sit seven points from safety.

One of those victories came recently on November 20, Crewe getting victory over Gillingha, but back-to-back defeats have since been registered at AFC Wimbledon and Ipswich Town.

Despite having picked positives from each of those outings, David Artell knows well that only points will keep him in a job in the long term with the Crewe Alexandra board inevitably considering his position to some degree.

However, Crewe have registered three wins from six games in all competitions, their last success coming over Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Trophy on December 1.

Each of the three victories came at the Mornflake Stadium, a record which gives Michael Appleton and his side something to consider ahead of the Tuesday’s encounter.

Lincoln were on high hopes of another promotion contest this campaign, but consecutive laegue defeats have left Appleton aware that his team can negatively afford anaother setback in Cheshire.

In addition to the disappointment, they have also exited the EFL Trophy and FA Cup, with frustration created in Saturday’s 1-0 reverse at home to Hartlepool United.

While Appleton is somehow not at the stage of fighting for his job, failing to win at Crewe or Cheltanham Town will give reason of a decision to be made at Sincil Bank ahead of January.

Lincoln have scored just two goals in six matches across all competitios, one of those coming against non-league Bowers & Pitsea.
