Chelsea Women will be looking to pick up a sixth successive victory across all competitions when theyr play host to Vllaznia Women on Wednesday.

While the hosts defeated Paris Saint-Germain in their Women’s Champions League opener, Vllaznia are in search of their first win of the group stage after losing to Real Madrid last week.

After failing to make it out of the group stage last season, the Blues are determined to enjoy a far more successful European campaign this time around.

There are positive early signs as they kicked off the competition with a narrow 1-0 victory away to Paris Saint-Germain last week after Millie Bright scored the winning goal in the first half.

They followed that up with a victory on Sunday, as goals from Beth England and Pernille Harder earned Chelsea a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Although Chelsea have won just one of their last four Champions League home matches, their recent form will give them the confidence to begin the group stage with successive victories.

On the other hand, Vllaznia secured their spot in the group stage for the first time after defeating Spartak Myjava and Vorskia Poltava in qualifying.

Nikolin Leka’s side have been drawn into a tough group alongside Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid, where points may be hard to come by.

The Albanian champions may have only lost 2-0 to Real Madrid last week, but they failed to register a single shot, while Los Blancos hit the target on 12 occasions.

Vllaznia will be aware that they face another tough challenge on Wednesday, despite defeating Lushnja 5-0 in the league at the weekend.

After keeping Real Madrid to just two goals, Vllaznia will be looking for another strong display from their goalkeeper and defence if they are to compete with the Blues.
