Two Premier League teams will be returning to the EFL Cup action semi-finals when Chelsea will be welcoming Tottenham Hotpspur to the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
The hosts are currently sitting 2nd in the Premier League standings, 10 points behind league leaders Manchester City, while Tottenham Hotspur are 6th, 2 points behind fourth-placed Arsenal with games in hand.
Chelsea are heading into the match with a record of a eight-match unbeaten run across all competition dating back to December 8 when they drew 3-3 with Zenit in the Champions League after previously losing 3-2 to West Ham United in the Premier League.
The Blues started the year in what could be called a lucky point picked up at the Stamford Bridge after ending their first match of the year in a 2-2 draw.
In that match Sadio Mane gave Liverpool an opener at the 9th-minute mark before Salah put the visitors in a 2-0 lead at the 26th minute, but Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic put in their efforts at the 42nd and 45th minute to secure a point for the Blues.
Meanwhile, Tottenham will be looking to make it a six-match unbeaten run in all competitions after previously being unbeaten in five matches, winning three and drawing two.
Tottenham are heading into this match of the back of a 1-0 victory over Watford on the New Year’s Day where Davinson Sanchez was the only goalscorer at the Vicarage Road.
The Lilywhites dominated much of the game, despite their head coach being absent after having tested positive for Covid-19, having a possession of 74% with 21 attempts on goal with 9 on target.
In the last encounter between the two teams, Chelsea dominated with a clean sheet, scoring 3-0 away from home, a match that was played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
