Chelsea will be looking to bounce back from their back-to-back defeats when they welcome a winless but resurgent Southampton to Stamford Bridge on Saturday for the seventh round of Premier League with kickoff at 17:00.
The Blues made a strong start to the campaign recording four wins and a draw in their opening five matches with 13 goals and had concede just one. However, they were handed a bruising reality check by champions Man City who won with a 1-0 at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
The defeat marked their first defeat this season in all competitions but then was followed by another 1-0 defeat at the hands of Juventus in the Champions League last Wednesday. Chelsea now need to bounce back in this match as the win will reignite their season.
However, the Blues have failed to beat the Saints in all of their last three meetings drawing two and losing one and Southampton have fared decently away form home against Chelsea, earning 19 points in their 22 meetings at the Bridge. Thus, this will be a fascinating match that could be fought closely.
Southampton are still winless this season but have claimed four points from their four draws against notable oppositions including Man City, Man United, Newcastle and West Ham leaving them in the 16th spot in the league standings.
The Saints are coming off a 1-0 defeat against Wolves last weekend but head into the match in a slightly above average form and Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side have looked like a well-drilled unit this season and they have had a decent record against Chelsea in recent times, hence, he will be hoping his team can further it in the Saturday’s Clash.
