Chelsea will look to keep their top spot when they welcome the bottom side Norwich City to Stamford Bridge in the English Capital for the Premier League round nine on Saturday with kickoff at 14:30.
Both sides have made very contrasting starts to the new Premier League season with the Champions League winners making a strong start, declaring their intentions by claiming six wins from their opening eight matches while they have drawn one and lost one in the process. Their impressive start has left them in the top spot with 19 points a point above Liverpool in the second place.
The Blues continue their determination for the Premier League glory in a strong and fascinating manner as it was the case during the last weekend’s hard earned 1-0 win away at Brentford. Thomas Tuchel’s side required goalkeeper Eduard Mendy to ensure they clung to their win that saw them retain their top spot in the standings. This is the Premier League and results matter here and the fact that the Blues are able to scrap and claw their way to victories, clearly indicates their intentions of being up for a tilt at the title.
Chelsea easily dispatched Malmo midweek in the Champions League, cruising to a 4-0 win against the Swede’s and should be in for another routine win this weekend.
Meanwhile the Championship winners have had a rough start to their life back in the top-tier as the Canaries are still looking for their first win of the season having opened with six defeats and two draws in their eight matches, collecting just two points that has left them rock bottom in the league standings.
Daniel Farke’s side head into the on the back of back-to-back stalemate draws which is positive thing as they have looked to focus on defence through the clean sheets, and thus they will no doubt try to sit in and focus on the counterattack here but many sides have tried to do that against Chelsea and it’s not worked because the Blues are so well set up at the back. Also, with the attacking quality Chelsea possesses should be to much for the visitors defence but will be fascinating to see if the Canaries can put up a fight here as we know they can.
