Chelsea will be looking to extend their winning streak in the Premier League when they welcome an in-form Newcastle United to Stamford Bridge for an intriguing league encounter on Sunday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Chelsea have been troubled lately with the ongoing off-field disruptions and there is a lot of uncertainties at Chelsea, with the club facing a change of ownership, while being hit with a number of restrictions following sanctioning of current owner Roman Abramovich by the UK government.
However, the Blues put aside their issues on Thursday evening as they claimed a convincing 3-1 victory against rock-bottom Norwich City, extending their winning streak in the Premier League to four.
They currently sit third in the league standing with 56 points collected from 27 matches, keeping them eight points clear of the fourth-placed Arsenal, although the Gunners have two games in hand on their capital rivals.
They will be looking to set aside their current problems again as they seek to claim another positive result to keep their spirits going and for their fans. They also need a win to boost their morale ahead of their second leg tie of the Champions League last -16 at Lille next Wednesday.
Meanwhile Newcastle continued their exciting revival under Eddie Howe with an impressive 2-1 victory against Southampton at away last Thursday night. They have now recorded a nine-match unbeaten run in the Premier League, picking up just three draws, while claiming six victories in the run.
As result Newcastle have climbed 10 points and four places above the relegation zone, which is really impressive as they were recently in danger of dropping to the Championship next season.
They will be confident of causing problems to the troubled Chelsea as they have also been also enjoying a fine away run that has seen them claim 10 points from their last four away matches. However the Magpies have lost their last three Premier League games to Chelsea without scoring a goal, including the 3-0 reverse earlier this season.
Although Newcastle are much changed side now and will be fascinating to see how this plays out.
