Celtic Will be looking to continue in their winning ways when they welcome a struggling St Mirren to Celtic Park for their third round of the 2021-22 Scottish Premiership this Saturday with kickoff at 17:00.
Ange Postecoglou now seems to have his side on the right track after struggling at first when he was appointed as the new manager at Celtic Park at the begging of this campaign. Celtic under Ange struggled through the pre-season as they only managed to win two of the seven pre-season matches across all competitions among them the Champions League qualifiers where Celtic were kicked out by Midtjylland. Also, the Hoops lost in their opening match of the Scottish Premiership by 2-1 to Hearts.
However, now Ange has Celtic on the right track as they head into the Saturday’s match aiming for their sixth win in a row. They head into the match on the back of a routine 2-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of their Europa League with their new summer signing Kyogo Furuhashi getting on the scoresheet again.
Celtic will fancy their chances here since in their last 24 meetings Celtic have won 21 keeping 18 clean sheets on the way with 61 goals. It will be another routine win for the Parkhead outfits.
Meanwhile St Mirren have been struggling in the recent weeks and are still looking for their fist win of the season following their 2-2 draw against Dundee on the opening day and a 2-1 defeat at home to the newly promoted Hearts.
St Mirren are really in a poor Premiership form as they have only won two of their last 15 league matches stretching back to last season and Jim Goodwin will be keen to get his side to winning ways which won’t be easy for him and his side as are set to face each of the last season’s top six in their next seven matches starting with Celtic tomorrow.
Last time these two met at Parkhead St Mirren won 2-1 and only two teams have been able to win back to back away league games against Celtic and it will be fascinating to see if Mirren can add their name to the list.
