Celtic welcomes newly promoted Dundee to a full capacity Celtic Park on Sunday for their matchday two of the Scottish Premiership with kickoff at 17:00.
Celtic have been in an inconsistent form in recent weeks that saw them get eliminated from the champions League qualifiers by a determined Danish side Midtjylland with a 4-2 win on aggregate. Prior to that Celtic were also not that convincing in the pre-season preparations as they played five pre-season friendlies managing two wins, one draw and two defeats including the humiliating 6-2 defeat to West Ham at Parkhead.
Ange Postecoglou’s side carried their inconsistent form to their opening match of the Scottish Premiership where they lost 2-1 to the newly promoted Hearts at Tynecastle Stadium last weekend. However, the Hoops finally gave their funs something to cheer about when they hammered FK Baumit Jablonec 4-2 at away on Thursday in their first leg of Europa League third-round qualifiers.
Following their performance last Thursday Ange Postecoglou will encourage his side going into Sunday’s match to keep their confidence as he looks to come away with all the three points and record his first Premiership win as Celtic manager.
Meanwhile Dundee managed to secure a point in their first game back in the Premiership following an impressive show against St Mirren that ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw. Dundee were impressive in the pre-season preparations opening their new campaign with an unbeaten run in the pre-season winning all their four group stage League Cup matches and prior to that they recorded 3-0 back to back wins against Forfar and Leyton Orient before drawing 2-2 with West Ham in preseason friendlies.
Dundee managed to carry their pre-season momentum to their opening match where, as mentioned earlier, they managed 2-2 draw with St Mirren playing with 10 men as Max Anderson was red carded in the 69th minute.
Dundee head into the match in a good form as they haven’t lost in their last 10 matches as well as 10 away matches and James McPake will encourage his side to continue with their momentum as they face their first real test and they might manage to pull upset here following the inconsistency of Celtic side.
