Celtic will be looking to immediately return to winning ways when they welcome Dundee to Celtic Park for a crucial Scottish Premiership on Saturday evening with kickoff at 18:00.
Many hoped and rooted for Celtic to overcome Bodo/Glimt in their first-leg of the knockout playoffs of the Conference League, but instead it was the Hoops who froze on Thursday night as they suffered a 3-1 with Daizen Maeda scoring the crucial goal in the 79th minute to keep them in the tie.
The defeat left an unfamiliar feeling around Celtic Park as it was the first loss since the 3-2 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen back in November, meaning that Ange Postecoglou’s men had gone unbeaten in 17 matches across all competitions and were on a nine-match winning streak.
Therefore, Postecoglou’s men need to get back on track as they continue their premiership title push. They will fancy their chances they have been dominant in the Premiership since the turn of the year with the side going unbeaten in their six league matches this year, keeping four clean sheets in the run while scoring 15 in return, which displays their team strength this year.
Also, Celtic have a good record against their opponents and have already won twice over Dundee this season claiming an emphatic 6-0 win at home earlier this season before claiming a 4-2 victory at a way in their reverse fixture.
Meanwhile Dundee have made a poor campaign this season with the side claiming 21 points from their 25 matches to sit in the 11th place with one point above the rock-bottom St Johnstone while are six points adrift of safety.
Due to the disappointing campaign Dundee made a decision of axing James McPake last weekend, despite winning his last two games, and in his place Mark McGhee was appointed. McGhee is now tasked with trying to keep the Dark Blues up and he will be in charge until the end of the season.
The veteran also faces a battle to win over the skeptical Dundee fans and he will hope that his new side will draw confidence from their back-to-back victories in all competitions to hold their own in his match. A win for the visitors will be just what McGhee wants as it will mark a perfect way to begin his reign at Dens Park.
