Cameroon will be aiming to maintain their clean record at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, as they play Cape Verde at the Paul Biya Stadium on Monday.
They have already qualified for the last 16, while Cape Verde look to join the host country in the knockout stages with a positive result in Olembe.
Cameroon made it two victories from their two games played following a comeback 4-1 triumph over Ethiopia on Thursday.
Toni Conceicao’s side found themselves behing just at the beginning of the game with a goal from Dawa Hotessa in the fourth minute, before braces from Vincent Aboubakar and Karl Toko Ekambi turned the game around.
The Indomitable Lions have now won six matches in a row by a combined score of 15-3, since a 2-1 loss to Ivory Coast back in September.
They now have an opportunity to keep their record rolling, playing against opponents who claimed a 3-1 victory in the most recent encounter between the teams.
Having successfully gone through the group stages, Cameroon can now head to Monday’s game with a lot of pressure off their backs.
Cape Verde took victory over Ethiopia on the opening day, but they were beaten 1-0 by Burkina Faso in their second group fixture on Thursday.
The result of the game was sealed in the 39th minute when Hassane Bande scored to force Pedro Brito’s side to a defeat.
That was Cape Verde’s first defeat in six outings since falling to a 2-1 loss at the hands of Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers.
The Blue Sharks head into the final matchday with their fate still in their own hands as they look to progress into the next stage of the Africa Cup of Nations, as they are currently sitting in the third position in Group A.
