Cagliari will be resuming their Coppa Italia campaign as they welcome Cittadella on Wednesday off the back of a nine-game winless run in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Cittadella will travel to Sardegna Arena sitting 7th in the Serie B table, after a seven-game unbeaten run.
Having taken much of the season struggling in the Serie A relegation zone, Cagliari manager Walter Mazzarri will be glad with a game away from the pressure of the league.
However, Mazzari knows that he can not be able to afford yet another disappointment result with his only victory in charge of Cagliari coming at home against Sampdoria on October 17.
While The Islanders have been on a four-game unbeaten run ahead of their 4-0 defeat at Inter Milan, with those draws were against teams now sitting in the bottom half of the table.
Attacking midfielder Joao Pedro has been their star player this season, with the Brazilian having now contributed nine goals from his 17 appearances in Serie A.
Cagliari advanced to this stage of the Coppa Italia through a 3-1 victory over Pisa back in August, having scored all the three goals before half time.
Meanwhile for Cittadella, they recorded a 2-1 victory over fellow division team Monza, which is an impressive result, now that their opponents have only conceded eight times in the league this season.
Edoardo Gorini has not had an easy task during his first season in charge, Cittadella losing five times during September and October.
However, they have turned that around by picking up 15 points from their last seven league fixtures, a run that has moved them to within seven points off the leaders.
They have conceded just four goals during that period, while keeping four clean sheets, with their latest win seeing them move past Ascoli in the race for promotion.
