Both Cagliari and Bologna will be looking to make it back-to-back Serie A wins on the bounce when their lock horns at the Unipol Domus on Tuesday night with kickoff at 22:45. The match was to be played on Sunday but was postponed and rescheduled for Tuesday instead.
Cagliari had a difficult campaign in the first half of the 2021/22 Serie A season with the side managing to claim just one win from their 19 league matches drawing seven while suffering 11 defeats. They ended 2021 lowly with side recording 11 winless matches, which included seven defeats and were level on points a place above the bottom side Salernitana.
However, Cagliari have opened 2022 and the second half of the season in a style as they came from behind to claim an important 2-1 win against Sampdoria at away in huge Serie A clash on Thursday. The win also saw Walter Mazzari’s side climb above Genoa in the 18th and are now just three points adrift of safety.
Mazzarri’s side will therefore be looking to keep up the momentum as they aim at salvaging their dreadful season. They will fancy their chances in this match as they haven’t lost to their visitors in their last five meetings at home.
Meanwhile Bologna had a less difficult time in the first season of the season but were on and off with the club recording eight wins, three draws and eight defeats from their 19 matches to collect 27 points that are keeping them in the 11th spot. However, they are just a point outside the top half and five outside the European places, with two matches in hand.
They last played on December 22nd where they comfortably edged out Sassuolo 3-0 on the road, ending their three-match losing streak in Serie A. therefore this will be their first Serie A action this year and they will want to kick off on a positive note as they aim at breaking into the top half.
