Cagliari vs Atalanta match Analysis and prediction

Atalanta will be looking to extend their four match unbeaten run the Serie A when they travel to Unipol Domus to take on a lowly Cagliari on Saturday night with kickoff at 22:45.

Cagliari have made a poor and disappointing campaign in the Serie A this season claiming just six points from the available 33 as they have won one, drawn three and lost seven of their 11 matches. They currently occupy the last spot in the standings and although it might be still early in the campaign but they already displaying relegation signs and head into the match on the back of three defeats in a row including the 2-0 defeat to Bologna last time out.

Walter Mazzarri’s side is among the worst sides in the Serie A this season and has been struggling defensively as they have already conceded 24 goals this season and have conceded two or more goals in their last three matches.

Mazzarri’s men are also in poor home form as they have just claimed one win at Unipol Domus in their last five matches, suffering three defeats in the process. Thus, they will be aiming at ending their poor run of form.

Meanwhile Atalanta have made a strong campaign this season claiming five wins, four draws and two defeats to collect 19 points that has left them occupying the fifth spot in the standings level on points with Roma who occupy the last Champions League place while are five points behind Inter in the third place.

Atalanta head into the match off a four match unbeaten run including the 2-2 draw against Lazio at home in their last Serie A fixture. The draw was followed by another 2-2 draw in the Champions League against Manchester United, a draw that will be particularly disappointing for manager Gian Piero who saw his side let the lead slip twice.

However, Piero will want his side to keep their momentum going as they aim at another Champions League finish this season and a win on Saturday might leave them in the top four positions. Atalanta will fancy their chances against a struggling Cagliari who they’ve beaten in their last four meetings, also the visitors are in a good away form as they are yet to taste an away defeat in five matches on the road this season, picking four wins and a draw in that run.
