Serie A league leaders AC Milan will be looking to extend their 10-match unbeaten run across all competitions when they travel to Unipol Domus to take on Cagliari in their Serie A Matchday 30 fixture on Saturday night with kickoff at 22:45.
Cagliari were left empty handed again in Serie A as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Spezia at away last Saturday with Martin Erlic and Rey Manaj sealing the heal for Spezia. Prior to the defeat Cagliari were coming off a 3-0 loss to Lazio at home on March fifth, ending their five-match unbeaten run in Serie A.
The run had them climb out of the relegation zone and they now sit 17th on 25 points from 29 matches, three points above the drop zone, although they have played one match more than the 18th-placed Venezia.
The Islanders therefore will be keen to return to winning ways as look to climb further away from the danger zone. However, they facing a challenging fixture against AC Milan, a side they have only beaten once in their last 36 league meetings. Also they are in poor home form having won one of their last nine league matches at Unipol Domus.
Meanwhile AC Milan bounced back from their three successive draw, including a 0-0 against Inter in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final tie, with back-to-back 1-0 wins in Serie A against fellow Scudetto chasers Napoli and a struggling Empoli.
Milan are now unbeaten in their last nine matches across all competitions, while are unbeaten in their last seven Serie A matches, claiming four victories and three draws in the run and currently sit at the summit of the table on 63 points from 29 matches, three points above the second placed Napoli and four above the city rivals Inter Milan who have one match in hand.
The Rossoneri will be looking to keep their status in the Scudetto race with another positive result on Saturday and they will fancy their chances as they have a good record over Cagliari and claimed an emphatic 4-1 win over the Islanders in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Also Stefano Pioli’s men have not lost in their last seven games on the road claiming five victories in the run, including a 2-1 victory against champions Inter Milan.
