Chelsea return to the Premier League where they we be looking to make three consecutive victories when they travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley in an important league fixture on Saturday evening with kickoff at 18:00.
Burnley suffered a disappointing 2-0 to Leicester City in their midweek fixture at Turf Moor, with second half goals from substitutes Janes Maddison and Jamie Vardy ending Burnley’s three-match unbeaten run in the Premier League.
They were on a resurgent prior to the defeat with wins against Brighton and Tottenham, a draw at Crystal Palace getting them off the foot of the table. The defeat denied them a chance to climb out of the relegation zone and they sit 18th with one point adrift of safety.
They will therefore be seeking to bounce back to winning ways as they look to continue to push for an escape from the relegation zone. With Chelsea’s off-pitch distractions, Burnley will feel it’s the right time to go head to head with the capital club.
Chelsea have had a miserable week on and off the pitch with the club’s future sale taking up headlines in the media, and Thomas Tuchel has been driven to distraction after being peppered with questions about conflicts rather than team news.
However, the Blue did well to escape an FA Cup humiliation amidst all the distractions, with club coming from a two goal deficit to claim a 3-2 victory against Championship outfit Luton. Romelu Lukaku struck the winner in the late stages of the game bringing a major relief to the Blues following last week’s Carabao Cup final heartache.
Back to the Premier League where they have been out of action since February 19, when they claimed a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace. The win was their second consecutive victory on the bounce in the top-flight and they will be looking to extend that run as they clinch on title aspirations that surely all but gone.
