It’s Ligue 1 matchday 3 and Paris Saint-Germain travel to Brest looking to keep their 100% start to their 2021-22 campaign. The match schedules for Friday at Stade Francis-Le Ble with kickoff at 22:00.
Both sides are unbeaten in their new Ligue 1 campaigns so far with Brest in the 11th spot with two points while Paris Saint-Germain hold third spot with six points level with Clermont in the second spot and Angers on top but with higher goal differences.
Brest opened their 2021-22 campaign without their main man upfront following the departure of Olivier Dall’Oglio which was expected to harm Les Pirates on the attacking front, however, the resilient nature of Brest has seen them claim two respectable draws against Lyon and Rennes.
Brest opened the campaign at Lyon with a 1-1 draw before drawing again 1-1 at home against Rennes a game in which Jeremy Le Douaron earned the hosts a point after leveling the scores in the extra time. The draw meant that Brest are now on a six-match winless run in Ligue 1 stretching back to last season.
Maintaining the unbeaten run against PSG will not be easy for Brest especially with their recent poor home form as they have lost two of their three home matches and they are also poor defensively as they have conceded seven goals in their last three home matches.
Paris Saint-Germain seem to be getting into their stride as they aim to return to their former Ligue 1 glory. The Parisians opened their 2021-22 Ligue 1 with a 2-1 victory over Troyes before trashing Strasbourg in an entertaining match that ended 4-2 with PSG racing to a three-goal lead in the first half with goals from Mauro Icardi, Julian Draxler and Kylian Mbappe before Pablo Sarabia netted the fourth in the 86th minute.
PSG have shown their attacking quality in the early stages of the season with Lionel Messi and Neymar Junior still watching from the stands. The Parisians have recorded six goals from their opening two matches and given that Lionel Messi and Neymar are likely to feature on Friday, Mauricio Pochettino’s team should be even better going forward.
PSG will fancy their chances here given that the last time these two met was back in May at Stade Francis-Le Ble with PSG winning 2-0 and given the attacking quality of PSG now we should expect more than two goals in this game.
