Both Braga and Vizela will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in the Primeira Liga when they square off at the Estadio Municipal de Braga on Tuesday night with kickoff at 23:15.
Braga have made a fairly strong 2021-22 Primeira Liga campaign as they have claimed five victories, four draws and two defeats in their 11 matches so far, collecting 19 points that have left them sitting in the sixth spot currently with just a point outside the top four.
However, Braga failed to secure a place in the knockout stages of the Europa League when they fell to a 3-2 defeat to Midtjylland in Group F last Thursday. Braga almost claimed a morale boasting draw in that match as Wenderson Galeno netted in the 85th minute to make the scores 2-2 but the Denmark giants couldn’t settle for a draw as Evander grabbed for them a 92nd minute winner to send their visitors packing.
Braga though continued their charge to defend their Taca de Portugal tittle as they crushed Santa Clara 6-0 on November 20 to book a place I the fifth round of the league cup. However, back to the Primeira Liga the hosts are coming off a humbling 6-1 defeat at the hands of Benfica at the Estadio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica in their last league fixture and thus Braga will seeking to return to winning ways as they aim at climbing back to the top four.
Meanwhile newly-promoted Vizela have made a somewhat slow campaign back to the top-tier and have been draw specialists this season as they have now claimed seven draws in their 11 league matches while just picking up one win and suffering three defeats in the process, and currently sit in the 14th spot on 10 points with just two clear of the drop zone.
Vizela head into the match having secured a place in the fifth round of the Taca de Portugal following their 2-0 success over a Segunda Liga outfit Estrela Amadora at the Estadio do FC Vizela on November 20th. The victory saw Alvaro Pacheco’s side return to winning ways as they were coming off three-match winless run that included back-to-back 1-1 draws to Estoril and Famalicao and a 1-0 defeat to Benfica at home.
However, they head into the contest in good spirits as they have now recorded a three-match unbeaten run across all competitions and Pacheco will hope his side can keep their momentum going in this crucial fixture.
