Borussia Dortmund vs Sevilla Match Analysis and Prediction

Borussia Dortmund play host to Sevilla at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday in what could be a crucial match for both sides in Champions League Group G.

The hosts can guarantee qualifcation to the knockout round with a win here, and Sevilla are aware that anything other than a win end their hopes of finishing second.

Edin Terzi’c side head into the contest off the back of a thrilling encounter with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Bayern lead by a 2-0 scoline through goals from Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane before Youssoufa Moukoko’s fine finish brought his team back into the game and an injury-time eqauliser from Anthony Modeste salvage a point for the hosts.

Meanwhile, Sevilla dismissed Julen Lopetegui as head coach after the 4-1 defeat to Dortmund and replaced him with Jorge Sampaoli, who had previously managed the club from 2016 to 2017.

His first game in charge ended in a 1-1 draw at home to Athletic Bilbao, which came as an impressive result considering the current form of his side.

Oliver Torres found the back of the net early on before Mikel Vesga equalised, but it was a step in the right direction, as the draw helped Sevilla move to within one point to safety in La Liga.

Sampaoli’s side have been really disappointing both domestically and in European action so far this season, but they are still favourites to finish third and qualify for the Europa League ahead of FC Copenhagen.

With players like Suso, Ivan Rakitic, Erik Lamel and Isco within their camp, Sevilla certainly have the quality to kick on if Sampaoli can get the best out of his team.
