Reigning champions Inter Milan will be looking to inch closer to a successful defence of their Serie A title when they visit Bologna on Wednesday.
While the hosts recorded a second successive draw at the weekend to go four game unbeaten, Inter Milan arrive at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara having enjoyed an excellent week in both league and cup.
Inter returned to the top of the Serie A standings after defeating Roma on Saturday to secure a fourth straight league win, but AC Milan shot back to the top with a victory over Lazio, taking a two-point lead.
Ending Roma’s 12-game unbeaten run rounded off a fine week for Inter, after they saw off Milan to reach the Coppa Italia final with a 3-0 second-leg win in midweek.
Potentially just five wins away from defending their title, Simone Inzaghi’s side still have Wednesday’s game in hand on Milan, and taking maximum points at Dall’Ara would move them back to the first place by a single point.
Having been beaten 6-1 in September’s reverse fixture at San Siro, Bologna have also failed to defeat Inter in their last 15 attempts at home, so precedent certainly weighs against them before I Nerazzurri’s visit.
Representing their longest league run without defeat since early last year, Bologna have also held Juventus and Milan, also defeating Sampdoria 2-0 during that spell, seeing them secure a safe mid-table spot.
Scoring twice against Udinese through wing-back Aaron Hickey and substitute Nicola Sansone, Bologna have managed to cope without their attacking talisman Marko Arnautovic at the weekend.
The former Inter striker was suspended last time out, and had scored each of Bologna’s previous six Serie A goals, with the last time another name appeared on the scoresheet being in January. He is now back and would love to score against his old club.

Bologna news
Marko Arnautovic, Adama Soumaoro and Gary Medel all served suspension against Udinese, and Arnautovic will start up front on Wednesday.
That will see either Musa Barrow or Riccardo Orsolini drop down to the bench, while Soumaoro and Medel would join forces in the back three if both are ultimately available.
Inter Milan news
While midfielder Arturo Vidal will be back into the squad following a knee injury, wing-back Robin Gosens is a doubt due to a muscular problem.
Ivan Perisic will continue to occupy the left flank on Wednesday, while Matteo Darmian is a contender to feature on the opposite side for the visitors.
Prediction and Odds
Bologna proved tough for both Milan and Juventus, and are most likely to face Inter with confidence within their squad to try and cause an upset.
However, Inter have gotten better of them in recent occasions and we believe the hosts have enough mettle to extend their dominance with a win here.
