Serie A returns to the fold for the second half of the 2021-2022 campaign as league leaders Inter Milan to travel to Stadio Renato Dall’Ara to take on Bologna on Thursday afternoon with kickoff at 14:30.
Despite claiming a few high profile wins against the like of Lazio and Roma, Bologna generally struggled for consistency in the first half of the season with club recording eight wins three defeats and eight defeats from their 19 matches to collect 27 points which have them sitting in the middle of the table with six points outside the European places.
However, Bologna ended the year on a victorious note as they raced to 3-0 win over Sassuolo at away with Roberto Orsolini, Aaron Hickey and Federico Santander getting the goals. The win was crucial for Sinisa Mihailovic’s men as it ended their three-match losing streak in Serie A.
Coming to the New Year Bologna need to improve on their home form if they are going to push further up the table. I Rossoblu have indeed been struggling at home lately with the side as they head into the match on the back of three defeats in their last four home matches.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan were the team to beat in the first half of the 2021/22 Serie A campaign and they ended 2021 on high note with four points clear at the summit of standings. They were first forced to ply catch up to Napoli and AC Milan earlier this season and have not looked back since overtaking them both to the top of the league.
Indeed the Nerazzurri ended 2021 in a brilliant note as they start the New Year on a 10-match unbeaten run with nine wins and a six-match winning streak which includes a 1-0 victory over Torino in final fixture of 2021.
The Champions have found it rather easy to get the results home or away and have claimed four wins and draw from their last five matches on the Road. Simone Inzaghi’s side also appears to have sharpened their defensive tactics as the club has kept clean sheets in their last six league matches. They will therefor look to open 2022 on a similar form and will fancy their chances having won in all their last three meetings with Bologna and the last time the two met inter cruised to an emphatic 6-1 win.
