Uruguay are looking up to improve thier position in South American World Cup 2022 Qualifiers on Tuesday, when they travel to take on Bolivia.
La Celeste currently find themselves just outside of the qualification positions, while the hosts are four points worse off in ninth place.
Collecting only six points from their first ten qualifying games, Bolivia’s chances of reaching a first World Cup since 1994 seemed to have vanished, La Verde managed to put two consecutive victories together to keep thier hopes alive.
Cesar Farias’ side attained a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Peru, as Ramiro Vaca scored an 82nd-minute goal to win after they had been reduced to 10 men.
They then came to back-to-back wins in style, beating Paraguay 4-0 with goals scored by Victor Abrego,Moises Villarroel, Rodrigo Ramallo and Roberto Fernandez.
The one-time Copa America champions met Peru in the opening game and were on the wrong side of a 3-0 loss, with goals from Gianluca Lapadula, Christian Cueva and Sergio Pena all in the first half.
With Farias’ men sitting ninth in the ten-team group, they are just four points behind both Chile in position four and Columbia in the playoffs, meaning they are capable of getting an unlikely qualification if the can regain the form they demonstrated in October.
They come into an encounter with Uruguay who are desperate to break back into the top five after a difficult run of form.
Oscar Tabarez’s appeared to perform well in qualification, having won four of their nine away games and collecting 15 points to comfortably occupy a space at the top end of the table, but they have since underperformed.
Despite the concerning drop, La Celeste are at level points with Chile and Columbia – meaning a victory could see them move quickly back into the automatic qualification places, and they will most likely fancy their chances against the perennial strugglers on Tuesday.

Bolivia news
Bolivia continue to depend Marcelo Moreno and Jua Carlos Arce’s experience at the top end of the pitch. Farias is likely going to stick with a back three against a dangerous Uruguay side, with established trio Adrian Jusino, Jose Sagredo and Jairo Quinteros expected to feature.
Uruguay news
Giorgian De Arrascaeta and Darwin Nunez will not make it to the squad, with Edinson Cavani ruled out due injury issues. Tabarez will stick with experienced defensive pairing of Jose Gimenez and captain Diego Godin, with the pair boasting 224 combined appearances for La Celeste.
Prediction and Odds
Despite their poor form recently and the squad being hit by injuries,Uruguay still have more than enough quality to seal all three points in Bolivia. With the need of victory to improve their group standing, we expect La Celeste to use their experience to get themselves over the line.
