Belenenses will be desperate to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Famalicao at Estadio Nacional do Jamor in their Primeira Liga Matchday 33 tie on Monday night with kickoff at 22:15 EAT.
Belenenses have made a disappointing campaign this season with the side claiming just 25 points from 32 games and currently sit at the bottom of the table with five points adrift of safety. Their survival chance suffered another blow last time out as they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Braga, with Ricardo Horta coming up with a dramatic 90th-minute winner.
With two games remaining to go O Belem need to win them both to keep their slim survival chances alive, but up next they meet Famalicao a side they have failed to beat in any of their previous five matches, suffering three defeats in the run – including the 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Belenenses had however, won two and a drawn one home matches before the Braga defeat and will look to draw confidence from that, plus fighting for their survival should be motivation enough.
Meanwhile Famalicao managed to bounce back to winning ways in the Primeira Liga in a style following a 3-1 victory against Estoril last time out at home. Prior to the victory, Famalicao were on a seven-match winless run, picking up four draws and suffering three defeats in the process.
With 33 points from 32 games, Rui Silva’s side sit 13th in the league standings six points above Tondela in the relegation playoff spot. With two games remaining it will take a lot to see Famalicao in the relegation playoffs, as they have a huge goal difference on Tondela.
While Famalicao will be looking to pick up successive victories for the first time since February, they have struggled to get going on the road, where they are currently on a four-game winless run and have managed just one win since last November.
