The Championship returns to the fold this weekend with Barnsley hosting West Bromwich Albion at the Oakwell Ground in the first fixture of the 23rd league round on Friday night with kickoff at 22:45.
Barnsley have made a decimal and disappointing 2021/22 Championship campaign with the club claiming just two victories in their 22 league matches, drawing seven while suffering 13 defeats in the process. They currently sit in the relegation zone in the 23rd on 13 points with eight points adrift of safety.
Poya Asbaghi’s side head into the match in a poor form having won none of their last six matches, picking up two draws and four defeats in the run and are coming off a 2-1 defeat at Preston North End last Saturday.
Barnsley will be seeking to put an end to their poor form and will desperate to pick up all the three points here as they look to salvage their season, although, it appears Barnsley are headed to the third-tier this time around.
Meanwhile West Brom have made an impressive in the Championship this season and are among the favorites to win the division. They have recorded 11 wins, seven draws and four defeats in their 22 league matches, collecting 40 points which have left them sitting in the third spot with just five points behind league leaders Fulham.
Valerien Ismael’s side head into the match in a good form as they have only lost one of their last six Championship games and are coming off back-to-backs victories against Coventry County and Reading, ending their four-match winless run.
West Brom will be looking to keep their momentum going as they aim at maintaining the pressure on the top-two in the race for the title.
