Austria and Denmark will both be looking to continue their perfect starts in the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League during their encounter at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna on Monday.
Ralf Rangnick’s side saw off Croatia 3-0 on the opening matchday in League A Group 1, while Denmark managed to defeat reigning world champions France 2-1.
Marko Arnautovic, Michael Gregoritsch and Marcel Sabiter all helped Austria to a prolific opening-day victory and potentially signal the start of a new era for Rangnick.
Life has started on a positive note for Austria following their promotion from League B last season, and they find themselves at the top of the standings after one game, but the unforgiving schedule will soon kick in.
Finding the back of the net 14 times in their last five matches across all competitions, as well as scoring in each of their last eight Nations League matches, Austria face two encounters with Denmark either side of a clash with a France side who are looking to lay down a marker this month.
In a game where everything went wrong for France, who were without head coach Didier Deschamps following the death of his father, Denmark surprised the world champions by defeating them 2-1.
Karim Benzema opened the scoring for France, but a substitution from Kasper Hjulmand saw Andreas Cornelius come off the bench to score a 20-minute brace, with the second goal coming in the 88th minute of the game.
The Euro 2020 semi-finalists now head into Monday’s contest having secured 11 wins from their last 14 matches across all competitions, and it has been over a year since they last picked up a draw.
Denmark claimed a pair of 1-0 and 4-0 wins over Austria during the World Cup Qualifiers last year, but the new manager bounce is with the hosts under Rangnick.

Philipp Lienhart missed out due to a fever, while Christoph Baumgartner, Gregoritsch and Christopher Trimmel are all competent options off the bench for Austria.

Andreas Cornelius is likely to be rewarded a start in Monday’s contest as Hjulmand remains cautious over Dolberg’s condition, while Christians Norgaard was not involved against France due to injury.
Hjulmand will keep changes to a minimum, but Mikkel Damsgaard is pushing to displace Daniel Wass in the wide areas.

Momentum could hardly be in either camp at the moment, but the two sets of players will both be battling jellied legs following Friday’s exploits.
