Both Augsburg and RB Leipzig will be looking make it back-to-back wins on the bounce in the Bundesliga when they lock horns at the WWK Arena on Wednesday night with kickoff at 22:30.
Augsburg have made a slow campaign this season with club recording four wins, four draws and seven defeats in their 15 league matches to collect 16 points, which have them occupying the relegation playoff spot with just one point adrift of safety and six above Arminia in the last direct relegation spot.
Markus Weinzieri’s side head into the match in a slightly above average form as they have recorded three wins, a draw and two defeats in their last six matches and are coming off a 2-0 win over FC Koln at away last weekend. The win ended their two match winless run, where they drew 1-1 with Hertha first before losing 3-2 at home to Bochum.
The result brought no change to Augsburg’s position in the Bundesliga table but another positive result on Wednesday night might leave them as high 13th in the rankings and they therefore will be desperate for the three points.
RB Leipzig meanwhile, have made an a slow and inconsistent Bundesliga campaign this season with the Red Bulls picking six wins, three draws and six defeats from their 15 league matches to collect 21 points which have them sitting in the seventh spot with five points outside the top-four.
Domenico Tedesco’s side head into the match in an average form having won three and lost three of their last six matches across all competitions, but are coming off back-to-back wins in all competitions first overcoming Manchester City with an impressive 2-1 win in the final group match of the UEFA champions League before dispatching Borussia Monchengladbach in a 4-1 success in the Bundesliga last weekend.
Their weekend win saw them put an end to a three match losing streak and will they will head into the match with plenty of confidence of keeping their new found momentum going as they look to overtake Union Berlin to the Europa Conference League spot.
Leipzig will also fancy their chances in the Wednesday clash as they haven’t lost to Augsburg in their last six meetings however it won’t be easy as the visitors have been struggling on the road this season and they haven’t won in their six away matches this season recording two draws and four defeats in the run.
