Atalanta vs Torino Match Analysis and Prediction

Atalanta finally put an end to their faltering form and now face mid-table Torino on Wednesday at the Gewiss Stadium, with both teams having won at the weekend.

Amid a worrying winless run of six matches at home and away, Atalanta were relieved to take the lead just before the break against Venezia on Saturday, and Mario Pasalic’s opening goal was followed by another from Duvan Zapata shortly after half time.

Ultimately returning to Lombardy with three precious points following a 3-1 victory, the Bergamaschi remain in the hunt for a return to Europe next season, but have much work to do following their recent dip into mediocrity.

Most of their growing talliy of losses have come at home, and after Gian Piero Gasperini’s side were beaten 2-1 by Verona last time out at the Gewiss Stadium, they hold a poor record of just four league wins in Bergamo this season.

That represents only the 13th-best performance on home soil throughout Serie A, and stands in sharp contrast to Torino’s total of 29 points as hosts.

Following their struggles throughout much of February and March, recent results have seen Torino get back on track for a shot at the top 10 and celebrating a successful first campaign under Ivan Juric with a top-half finish.

After they shut out Milan a fortnight ago, II Toro posted another draw against Lazio a week later and then succeeded against Spezia on Saturday, winning 2-1 through Sasa Likic’s brace.

As a result, Torino are unbeaten in four matches before they face Atalanta, and having also held both Inter and Juventus to draws in recent weeks, they are certainly confident.

Ivan Juric will now hope that having scored twice in one game for the first time since January, they can continue their pursuit of 10th-placed Sassuolo.

Gasperini is still set to be without captain Rafael Toloi in Atalanta’s back three due to injury, so Giorgio Scalvini should continue to feature on Wednesday.

Torino news

Andrea Belotti missed out at the weekend after suffering a muscular injury against Lazio but he aims to return on Wednesday.

Tommaso Pobega and Armando Izzo will have to be assessed before the game, while Mohamed Fares is out for the rest of the season and Simone Zaza is absent until next month.

Prediction and Odds

Atalanta have already lost nine league matches this season and they tend to struggle in front of their own supporters, and are likely to keep that trend running on Wednesday.

However, Torino have also failed to perform on the road in recent matches, and we predict a draw in this game.
