Atalanta will be looking for their first Champions League win when they welcome Young Boys to Gewiss Stadium on Wednesday night for an entertaining group F fixture with kickoff at 19:45.
Atalanta head into the match of the back of a thrilling 2-2 draw against Villarreal in the opening Champion League fixture with Remo Freuler and Robin Gosens getting their names on the score sheet for Atalanta. They currently occupy the third spot with a point in the group standings and will come into match looking to move up the group with three points.
After having an inconsistent start to the new Serie A campaign, Atalanta appear to have found their feet as they remain unbeaten in their last four fixtures across all competition, recording two wins in that run.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side bounced back from their 2-2 draw against Villarreal with back-to-back wins in Serie A before drawing again 2-2 with Inter Milan in the recent Serie A action and will take plenty of confidence from their performance on the weekend.
They also come into the match in a good form as they have only lost one of their six matches across all competitions and will want to keep that momentum as they aim to advance to the knockout stages.
Meanwhile Young Boys stunned Manchester United 2-1 in their Champions League opener, where they fought back from a goal down with Nicolas Ngameleu and Jordan Siebatcheu getting the goals.
David Wagner’s side have made a fine start to the new domestic campaign recording four wins and two draws with one defeat in their opening eight matches and currently occupy the second place in the Swiss standings with four points behind FC Basel but Young boys have a match in hand.
They head into the clash in a brilliant form as they are unbeaten in their last ten matches across all competitions recording nine impressive wins and a draw with a five-match winning streak. Also, they have lost none of their last five away matches.
Thus, Young Boys will come into the match looking to keep their brilliant form as they look to record their second successive win the Champions League that will give the more chances of advancing to the knockout stages.
However, they are particularly poor on their travels in the Champion League as they have claimed just one win from their last eight away matches and will be fascinating to watch how they perform this time around.
